HUMC builds a digitally innovative hospital with SK Planet

On August 4, Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) and SK Planet announced that they signed a business agreement to build a digitally innovative hospital at the video conference room of Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital.
The event was attended by Executive Director Hee Sung Yoon of HUMC, Director General Kyu Hong Lee for Planning & Coordination, Director Kyung Ha Min of Management Strategy at HUMC, Director Seong Ho Lee of Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital, and Chief Administrative Officer Tae Jin Eom of Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital, in addition to key people at SK Planet including Chief Executive Officer Han Sang Lee, Mr. Gan Chae Jung, Head of ICT Synergy Business Division, Mr. Yong Jin Chun, Head of AI and Mobility Business Group, Mr. Jin Hyun Cho, Head of Business Management Group, and Dong Chan Lim, Head of ICT Business Group.
Through this agreement, the two companies decided to jointly carry out projects such as building a smart hospital room that can control facilities and the treatment system with voice commands based on AI and Internet of Things (IoT) technology at Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital and establishing non-contact treatment system that can promote infection control and patient convenience.
Hallym University Medical Center was the first in Korea that established the comprehensive medical information system in 2006 which integrated five affiliated hospitals. In 2016, CDW (Clinical Data Warehouse)—a clinical data analysis solution—was introduced, and all departments at the hospital have been innovating into a shrewd organization that is fast in adoption of the daily use of big data-based tasks.
“Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital is the first in Korea to introduce a facial recognition ward access control using AI technology, biometric arrival notification service, and voice recognition medical record system in the operating room. Through digital formation, our hospital is leading the creation of a non-contact medical environment,” said Director Seong Ho Lee of the hospital and added, “With this agreement, we will take a leap to become the top smart hospital in Korea by integrating the technologies and experiences of both companies.”
