No.5842 Date2018-09-05 Hit 27340

Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital opened its Intensive Stroke Unit on September 3, 2018, and began operations in earnest.

Intensive Stroke Unit is a specialized ward for providing more systematic and intensive treatment for acute stroke patients.

The stroke unit in Chuncheon is a semi-intensive care unit where nurses stay 24 hours a day to take care of patients. It provides patients with prompt and precise treatment by monitoring the state of patients in real time and identifying the factors that can worsen the brain damage.

The stroke unit is available for the following people: patients in acute phase of stroke within 7 days of its occurrence, patients who received clot busters, patients with cerebral infarction, patients with repeated transient cerebral ischemic attack, patients with suspected brain herniation due to cerebral edema, and patients who underwent cerebrovascular intervention.

Director Jae Jun Lee of Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital said, "The stroke unit plays a pivotal role in the recovery and prognosis of stroke patients. We expect this stroke unit will greatly help our society in enabling prompt diagnosis and providing professional healthcare service for stroke patients in the local community."
