Dr. Ki-Suck Jung named as 12th President of HUMC

Dr. Ki-Suck Jung, Professor of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine in Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital has been appointed as the 12th president of Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC), effective March 2, 2018.


President Jung graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine and completed his MD and PhD degrees at the same medical school. He served as Director of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, the Director of Lung Center, Program Director at Education & Training Department and Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine department.


He, as an outstanding expert in pulmonary diseases, published 160 academic papers and performed various national medical projects on the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. He also developed a new standard of pulmonary function test that can better diagnose the lung function of patients in Korea.


Dr. Jung was appointed as Director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (KCDC) in 2016 and led the establishment of national quarantine system for two years to cope with overseas infectious disease such as MERS and Zika virus. He also contributed to strengthening the risk-management of public healthcare.
