Kangnam signs an MOU with Yanbian Univ. Hospital

Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital signed an MOU with Yanbian University Hospital on November 9, 2016.


Director Young Goo Lee and Chief Administrative Officer Sung Dae Yoon of Kangnam hospital visited Yanbian University Hospital in YanJi City, located in Jilin Province, China, to join the signing ceremony between two institutions for mutual academic cooperation. Leadership of Yanbian University Hospital including Director Cheol Ho Kim, Chief Medical Officers Chang Ho Kang and Young Duk Kim, Manager Young Chan Kim of International Affairs participated in the ceremony.


Through this MOU, both organizations agreed to activate programs for doctors and nurses. Both hospitals will also closely work on joint academic research and exchange of medical information as well as referral of patient.


Director Cheol Ho Kim of Yanbian University Hospital said, “Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital is equipped with the cutting edge medical system and advanced surgical skills such as robotic surgery with da Vinci Xi and cleft palate repair. We hope to have many chances to learn advanced medical technique from Kangnam hospital in the future.”


“Hallym University and Yanbian University have been closely working together since the signing of an MOU for the exchange of students and double degree program in 2008. After the first Chinese orthopedic surgeon from Yanbian University Hospital finished his fellowship training in 2013, we have expanded the range of training program including the Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Radiology. Now, we have four Chinese fellow trainees here,” said Director Young Goo Lee of Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital.
“I hope our excellent medical techniques as well as an advanced hospital administration system will help Yanbian University Hospital to improve its system,” he added.


Yanbian University Hospital was open in Yanji City in 1946 and operates approximately 1,500 patient-beds. As a unique tertiary hospital in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, the hospital treats 1.15 million patients per year and mainly focuses on the development of medical science, preventive medicine and rehabilitation.
