Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital held Summer Youth Eco Camp from June 11 to 12 at Ilsong Cultural Center where 40 elementary school students participated in. With the theme “Love nature, respect lives”, the camp provided the children with the chance to learn communal culture and get friendly with nature.

Students visited Anmyeondo Natural Recreational Forest and Cheongpodae Beach, observed various ocean animals on mudflats, had fun with friends, and wrote thank you letters to parents. They not only learned about the beauty of nature but also discovered what effort they should make in order to protect nature.

One of the students said, “I really enjoyed the time at the mudflat and playing with friends was so much fun. I thought about my parents a lot when I was writing a thank you letter.” Another participant said, “I heard a lot that we need to protect environment, but didn’t know that there were so much I could do. I will practice what I have learned today.”

Dr. Yul Lee, the Director of Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital said, “We invited professional instructors to organize the program at the children’s eye level.” He added, “We’ve been running summer camps to raise awareness of respecting and protecting lives.”
