No.4244 Date2014-10-29 Hit 28287

Dr. Joanna Rubinstein, Assistant Director of the Earth Institute (EI) at Columbia University for International Programs, gave a lecture on “The Sustainable Development Goals: The role of Innovation in Education and Health” at Hallym University on Oct. 29, 2014.

She visited Korea with Mr. Ellis Rubinstein, President of New York Academy of Sciences, who was invited to give a speech at the 3rd World Humanities Forum hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea.

“You can actually have thousands of books on tablet whereas it would be take years and a lot of money to print books for all the different villages,” she said during the lecture at International Conference Room of the Center for Aged Society Education.

The lecture was heated up with various questions made by professors and students who showed vast interest in Dr. Rubinstein’s lecture topic.

Since joining Columbia University’s Earth Institute in 2005, Dr. Rubinstein plays a strategic role in establishing high-level international partnership-projects with academia, governments and the private sector in health, education, poverty alleviation and sustainable development.

She’s also actively involved in international relations and holds several positions. Currently, she is Special Advisor to Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of ConnectToLearn, and Senior Advisor to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
