[The Munhwa Ilbo] Developmental Delay Believed Incurable Cured in New Era of Personalized Medicine

The Munhwa Ilbo Meets with Prof. Scarpa of Padova and Prof. Kim and Prof. Park of Hallym on October 9, 2012.



Hallym University Medical Center hosted the 3rd Hallym-Padova International Symposium under the theme, “New Insights into Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Diseases” at the Hanmaeum Hall in Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital on October 9, 2012.


Professor Maurizio Scarpa of pediatrics at Padova University and Professor Sung Koo Kim and Professor Hong Kyu Park of pediatrics at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital shared their opinions on the novel strategies and approach in patients with developmental delay.


Professor Scarpa introduced the therapeutic potentials of lysosomal storage disease, one of the congenital metabolic disorders. Professor Kim told the possibilities of intervention in perinatal hypoxia-ischemia, and professor Park demonstrated the next-generation sequencing in developmental delay. They discussed their remarkable results that suggest almost coming into clinic.
