Laotian Doctors Get Training at Hallym

Hallym University Medical Center(HUMC) invited four medical professionals from Laos to an eight-week program, ‘A Training Course on National Children Hospital Management in Laos,’ from May 19 to July 13.


The trainees consisted of two pediatricians and two pediatric surgeons. The program was on treatment for pediatric diseases such as neurological disorders, pneumonia and respiratory allergic diseases, diarrhea and stomach ailments, congenital and acquired heart diseases, juvenile diabetes and thyroid diseases, viruses and bacterial diseases. They also joined clinical practices at the pediatric ward, operation rooms, a delivery room, a nursery, and an emergency room.


Since HUMC was designated as a Project Management Consultant(PMC) by the Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA) in August 2010, it has been consulting for the establishment and operation of National Children Hospital, and planning for supplying of medical equipment and facilities. Hallym also dispatched medical experts to convey its extensive medical knowledge and know-how and hospital management.
