Dr. Lee Grabs Best Scientific Paper Prize

No.2184 Date2009-08-26 Hit 33044

Dr. Young Kyung Lee, associate professor of department of laboratory medicine at Hallym University College of Medicine & Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital, was given the best prize for her scientific paper at the Korea Science and Technology Annual Meeting(KSTAM) on July 7, 2009.

Her paper, 'Incidence and Influencing Factors of Aspirin Resistance in the Patient Group of a University Hospital in Korea,' analyzes the aspirin resistance in the inhibitory effect of a platelet function. Professor Lee revealed that despite taking aspirin, the platelet function of almost ten percent of Korean patients doesn't seem to be reduced. "An additional test is required to see if aspirin properly works for patients who take it to prevent thrombotic diseases," she noted.
