No.1960 Date2009-01-16 Hit 34014

Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with U.S. Medical Department Activities, Korea (U.S. MEDDAC-Korea) on January 14, at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital (HUSHH). The ceremony was attended by Hallym leadership including Dr. Hae-Ran Lee, president of HUMC, and Dr. Ho-Guen Chang, director of Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, and U.S. military representatives including Col. Ronald Smith, director of Health Services Directorate Korea, and Col. Jeffrey Clark, commander of U.S. MEDDAC-Korea. The two institutions concluded an MOU and discussed ways to further their collaborative relations.

With the signing of their MOU, HUMC is now able to support healthcare for U.S. active duty, retirees, Department of Defense (DoD) work force and their family members when they bring the letter of medical requests from U.S. MEDDAC-Korea. Moreover, HUMC confirmed that it will provide necessary copies of the patient treatment records when requested by military members so that they can get follow-through medical treatments.

"We Koreans do appreciate that United States Forces Korea (USFK) has wholly contributed itself to protecting freedom and democracy of the Korean people for over five decades as a truly good friend and neighbor. Today we are gathered here to launch a fresh partnership with you so that we will be able to reciprocate our gratitude to you in the future," Dr. Lee stressed in her welcome remarks at the event.
